Review of The Assassin's Blade

I am giving this book 4/5 stars! This collection of novellas is honestly just a full fledged book. I don't think it can be called a collection of novellas because the events flow from one to the other, making references to the last. It is very much basically a book with small time jumps and a little bit of backstory on the novella(s) before it.  It was a little repetitive in the first two novellas, and I'm glad it got better as time went on. It was starting to annoy me. The writing style flows and it has to be one of my favorites. I like that it isn't too descriptive and lengthy, and I like how light it feels. It is very refreshing. Considering this is my first series that has gone longer than three or four books, I hope the writing style will help me stay interested.  Celaena is such an enjoyable character! I love her arrogant personality, and I also love how she loves to read and reads often. It made her relatable when she is a not-so relatable character for me. T...

Review of King of Scars

I am giving this book 4/5 stars! I spent a few months reading this book because I had to put it down because of school. I don't think that me picking it up and putting it down for a while effected my feelings towards the book overall though. The beginning was a little boring. It started off as a "meh" book, but (at the very least) the last 100 pages were very enjoyable! AND THAT ENDING! I love how the story ended and cannot wait for the next book. I just hope the next one doesn't start off boring too.  I think this story really adds to the Grishaverse world. The author did a great job developing the magic system, the entire world, and the characters. The magic system gets built on, and I'm wondering how this will impact the future of Ravka and its neighboring countries. I hope that we get to see the implications it creates in the next book. I saw a good amount of growth in Zoya, Nina, and Nikolai, and it made for an interesting story. We learn more about Zoy...

Review of The Betrothed

Rating: 4/5 stars Kiera Cass is most definitely one of my favorite authors, and she did not disappoint with this book! One of the things I liked was that Hollis is relatable. She likes books like the majority, if not all, of us here do, and her embracing (or at least wanting to embrace) her playful and unladylike side is something that I could relate to. Hollis being wealthy and expected to behave like a proper lady, but then having fun and expressing herself even if it isn't in a proper way was one of my absolute favorite things about her. Hollis is my favorite character and I could not be more pleased with her personality. I think she developed quite a bit as a character throughout the book, and it helped me form a stronger connection with her. I am all here for how there was a good amount of time where it was just Hollis and King Jameson before the other love interest was introduced. It allowed me to get a sense of her relationship with the king, and then see how ...

Review of An Enchantment of Ravens

Rating: 4.5/5 stars As a standalone, this met my expectations. I was going in with the expectation that it would be an okay read since I've heard only a few people talk about it, all having great things to say about it. It had actually exceeded my expectations and I'm so glad that I have read it! I think Margaret Rogerson might be a new favorite to add to my list :) I really enjoyed the romance. It was very well done and I honestly found it to be realistic in the emotion department. It is how most people her age would approach it. The book was unpredictable for me. I was only able to predict one thing and that was after I had been given enough information and so it didn't spoil the book for me in any way.  All of the characters are enjoyable. I like each and every one of them, which doesn't happen often for me. They were each unique, yet the fair folk stuck within the boundaries that they had been given and I think that was really cool to see. That character...

Review of The Queen of Veils

- I am on the author's street team and so I received an ARC copy of the book in kindle format. Although this is the case, it has no influence over my review and rating. - I am giving this book 4/5 stars!  We have reached the end of this amazing series and I couldn't be more sad about it. I really love Brynna's story and character, and hate to see it come to an end. This final installment will not disappoint and I am VERY pleased with how it has ended. It is the perfect ending to a great series. This book has the same feel as the first book did. It has lots of action and political intrigue that keeps it interesting, and it doesn't have a lot of romance. I didn't like the climax as much as I wanted to, but it is exactly how it should have ended in order to stay true to Brynna and her morals. Although Brynna goes through character development and learns valuable lessons that change her, there are certain character traits and morals that never change and I fin...

Review of The Kingdom of Back

I received an ARC through a giveaway on Goodreads. Thank you for the book! Although this is the case, it has no influence over my review and rating. I am giving this book 3.5/5 stars. This book is a great story about Marianna 'Nannerl' Mozart and her relationship with her younger brother, Wolfgang 'Wolferl' Mozart. Before reading this, I hadn't read a book where the sibling relationship is the main focus of the story, and I was not disappointed. This book opened me up to trying out more books with sibling relationships. I have my own younger brother, and we are separated by three years rather than five years, like Nannerl and Wolferl are. Although I have never felt the way Nannerl does about Wolferl with my brother, I can understand why and how she has come to feel the way she does throughout the entire book. While I think the way she feels towards her brother is realistic for a sibling, I think that the extent it went and how long it lasted might not be as r...

Review of Fangirl

I really like how the characters are not perfect. They are all so flawed! I've never read a book with so many characters that have what people would consider to be physically flawed. I also enjoyed Cath's main romance, which was also flawed. When I first looked into this book, I was under the impression that this wasn't LGBTQ+, but because of all of the romance in the fanfic, it felt like the book was mainly LGBTQ+ and about Simon and Baz fanfic, with an undertone of straight romance for the main character and her life away from the fanfic. I was hoping for more from Cath and her life outside of the fanfic. So if you aren't into that stuff, know that if you read this book you may be skipping what feels like a good portion of the book to get to the parts you're more interested in. I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read Gemma T. Leslie's books and if I read and enjoyed Carry On by Rainbow Rowell since it was so focused on it. I expected...
