Review of The Betrothed

Rating: 4/5 stars

Kiera Cass is most definitely one of my favorite authors, and she did not disappoint with this book! One of the things I liked was that Hollis is relatable. She likes books like the majority, if not all, of us here do, and her embracing (or at least wanting to embrace) her playful and unladylike side is something that I could relate to. Hollis being wealthy and expected to behave like a proper lady, but then having fun and expressing herself even if it isn't in a proper way was one of my absolute favorite things about her. Hollis is my favorite character and I could not be more pleased with her personality. I think she developed quite a bit as a character throughout the book, and it helped me form a stronger connection with her.

I am all here for how there was a good amount of time where it was just Hollis and King Jameson before the other love interest was introduced. It allowed me to get a sense of her relationship with the king, and then see how it was different between her and the new love interest. Hollis's relationship with both men was unique and I do think that she made the right choice in the end, and it showed character. There could have been more on her relationship with them so that we could get a better sense and/or grasp on how deep each of their affections went. I believe that we saw how deep Jameson's feelings were towards her, but I just needed more from the new love interest. It was very much a love at first sight type feeling, and I needed to get to know him more. I do LOVE how the village boy is introduced. I found it unique and I didn't think that it would happen the way it did.

I also just want to add that I love how the story is set up in the beginning! I find it to be strong and it grabbed my attention.

This book is an easy, light read and all I have to say is "WOW". I truly did miss Cass's stories and I cannot wait to see what else she cooks up, and how this story continues to play out. ESPECIALLY AFTER THIS ENDING!!! Why would you do this Kiera, WHY?! It was so unexpected and I am HERE FOR IT.

Review of The Queen of Nothing (SPOILER FREE)

This review is the SPOILER FREE version. I am giving this book 5/5 stars! GUYS I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S OVER! I DON'T WANT IT TO END! I really enjoyed reading this book, and I wish there were more books to come. I definitely think that there could be more if Holly Black wanted to make it happen. I live for Jude and Cardan's relationship, and their own personalities. I love these two so much. They are so skillfully crafted and have many layers to their personalities. There is more than just the sad, drunk boy, more than just the strong, power hungry girl. Their relationship grows (in a good or a bad way, you will find out) in this book and it tore me up! Many questions that had been unanswered in the second book are answered in this book. I feel like there are questions I still have that this book brought up, but it's nothing big that will eat at me for all eternity... I like the first half, but I really like the second half of the book. So much happene...

Review of Heir of Fire

I am giving this book 4.5/5 stars! In this book, we meet multiple new people, more answers are given, and more questions are left unanswered. I think this is the book where things really start to go down and get interesting. It's a turning point, not just for the characters, but for the story as a whole. Even the feel of the book is different. As I was reading, I felt like Chaol and Dorian's point of view was providing a slice of the past books, Manon's point of view was providing a slice of the future and where the series is heading, and Celaena's point of view was providing the transition from past to future. I really like Manon, more than I had anticipated. She brings something good to the table and the story and I can't wait to see how she continues to develop as a character. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she plays a bigger role in Celaena's story later on! I teared up a few times because OOOHHH MYYYY GOODNESS I am speechless with how the s...

Review of Rise of the Phoenix

I am giving this book 4/5 stars! I received a copy of the book from the author. Thank you again Isajanyan for the copy and writing a great book!!  If you like books with the chosen one, born solely for this event type of books, this is the book for you! This book was creative from the beginning with the brilliant writing style. In some movies, there is a prophecy or story from the past that they will describe and talk about. This book was written like someone was telling the prophecy, and I found that creative because this whole book starts with just that.  There was a lot of information in the beginning, it was a bit overwhelming and may have contributed to me having a hard time getting into it at first. That also may have contributed to me feeling as though some things were being repeated. While that may be the case, as I continued reading it got better. I was starting to get attached to the characters and story. So I highly recommend sticking around and reading it...
