Review of Siege and Storm

I am giving this book 2/5 stars. I don't want this review to be completely negative, because it's a waste of time to talk about what I didn't like about a book when I know some people (including myself) only look at reviews for positives. I will talk about what I liked, and what I disliked, equally. I was really hoping I would like this book more than the last, but sadly, I didn't. This book suffered from middle book syndrome. It's lacking. It was quick in the beginning, which brought me to think it was going to be better than it was, but it slowed down a lot to where there was basically nothing going on. It didn't pick back up until the end, so I am hoping that the next book will be at a much faster pace. (I have heard people say that their favorite book of the three in The Shadow and Bone Trilogy is the last book, so I am hanging out until I finish this trilogy!) It delved deeper into relationships and magic, which is something that I really enjoyed ...

Review of We Hunt the Flame

I am giving this book 3.5 out of 5 stars. I did enjoy this book, and I was having a difficult time deciding if I should give it 3 or 4 stars. Some think 3 is low, but I think of it as average. Nothing stood out, and nothing needed more. It was there and something to pass the time.  In the beginning, it was slow. I even wondered if I should DNF it, but I had heard such great things about it and I wanted to hold out until it at least started going somewhere. I'm glad I did. Though it took a while for it to speed up, it did get more interesting. I started actually getting into the story. I really liked Zafira's character (and Nasir's, but mostly Zafira's). She is everything a good leader should be, and even though she has negative qualities, she wields them like a sword. She doesn't let people step on her, she holds her own weight, and she is fierce. There is nothing I like more than a main character who is true to herself.  Nasir, Zafira, and the other ch...

Review of A Court of Frost and Starlight

I gave this book 5/5 stars! I found this novella to be very calm and peaceful, a nice bridge between the chaos of ACOWAR and the next books to come. It sets up the story for them well. I enjoyed being able to see what the inner circle and the rest of the characters have been up to and how their lives are coming together. This book answers many of the questions that I know I was asking that were left unanswered in the last book(s), such as  - CONTENT MAY BE VIEWED AS SPOILERS - how Velaris and other courts are recovering from the war, how other courts are handling the new situation with the humans, and how each of the characters that we have encountered are mentally, emotionally, and physically. - SPOILERS OVER - This novella is cute and while the last ending of the book for all three was satisfying, this ending for them is equally enjoyable. I can't wait to see what Maas has in store for the next books! This review is also on Goodreads and Bookbub! Synopsis...

Review of A Court of Wings and Ruin

I gave this book 5/5 stars! I honestly don't think that anyone could have told this story better than Maas did. I was emotionally invested in this series, which I honestly wasn't expecting. I thought that I wouldn't like it as much as I could have because I'm so late to the party, but I was wrong. This series has easily become one of my top favorites, and I couldn't be happier. SO many unexpected things happened. I didn't see any of it coming. You thought you knew how this was going to play out, then you get sideswiped with a twist. Then you play on that and think you have it planned out, but you get hit with a twist again. I LOVED IT!! It kept me on my toes and left the future blurry. This is definitely one of the reasons why this is my favorite book so far out of the first three.  This book has at least one tear-jerking moment. It was an emotional whirlwind. Since I was prompted to feel strong emotions while reading, I was able to separate this book ...

Review of A Court of Mist and Fury

I gave this book 5/5 stars! This book is a masterpiece! I will be thinking about this book for the rest of the month, maybe even longer. It didn't suffer middle book syndrome and it was honestly better than ACOTAR. I had high hopes for this book because the first one left a mark on me, and it exceeded expectations. Even knowing spoilers from social media didn't tamper with my feelings and thoughts while I read the book.  All great books have an ending, and this ending was... crazy to say the least. It's honestly one of my favorite endings I have ever read. I have never felt so strongly about something like this. It rolled be through so many different emotions at once, and it was so beautifully written. I knew before I had even finished the final two chapters that I needed to order the next book ASAP otherwise I might explode because of what Maas left her readers with at the end of the book.  - THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH CONTAINS SPOILERS! - I enjoyed seeing how th...
