Review of A Court of Thorns and Roses

I gave this book 5/5 stars!

I can't believe I allowed myself to be late to the party. It seems like everyone has read this series and I now understand why so many people love this book and enjoy the series. I feel bad for the other book I was reading when I started this book because I ended up not reading it until I finished this one.

ACOTAR moves at a pace between average and quick. There were some parts throughout the story that I felt were sped up and other parts where it felt calm and at the pace most books will go. Sometimes when things are sped up, people think that it should have been given more time and should have been slowed down. I think that for this book, when events were sped up it worked for the story and highlighted what was important in a special way.

I love love love the magic system that the faeries have. I do wish that it was explained a little more because I found myself asking questions that weren't answered. Maybe I didn't catch the answer, or maybe it will be answered in the next book.

There were quite a bit of descriptions, but it wasn't too hefty. At first I was going to say that it was borderline, but after I kept reading I decided to go with saying that there is simply a good amount of descriptions. I think that there were a couple of descriptions that were unnecessary, but for the majority of the book, they added to the story and brought it (and the characters) more to life.

The characters were each individual in their own unique ways and I honestly think that they can be added to my list of favorite characters. It's not exactly a long list because I get picky as time goes on, but I have a good feeling that these characters will stay on the list no matter how much time has passed since I have read this book/series. The characters hold a special place in my heart now.

I didn't read the synopsis or any reviews before I began reading this book because I knew the surface of what it was about due to so many people always talking about it on bookstagram and other media platforms. It took me by surprise to find that this book has many parallels to Beauty and the Best (the Disney movie) that many of us love so much. It's very different from the ones we usually see now, and I found that to be very refreshing and original.

ACOTAR moved swiftly and all of the aspects of the story, including twists that I would have never
guessed, fit the story and didn't feel like an add on or a last minute decision. This story was well thought out and kept the same pace throughout the entire book. I adore how the book was written and how everything tied together in the end and I can't wait to read the next book.

Review of The Queen of Nothing (SPOILER FREE)

This review is the SPOILER FREE version. I am giving this book 5/5 stars! GUYS I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S OVER! I DON'T WANT IT TO END! I really enjoyed reading this book, and I wish there were more books to come. I definitely think that there could be more if Holly Black wanted to make it happen. I live for Jude and Cardan's relationship, and their own personalities. I love these two so much. They are so skillfully crafted and have many layers to their personalities. There is more than just the sad, drunk boy, more than just the strong, power hungry girl. Their relationship grows (in a good or a bad way, you will find out) in this book and it tore me up! Many questions that had been unanswered in the second book are answered in this book. I feel like there are questions I still have that this book brought up, but it's nothing big that will eat at me for all eternity... I like the first half, but I really like the second half of the book. So much happene...

Review of Heir of Fire

I am giving this book 4.5/5 stars! In this book, we meet multiple new people, more answers are given, and more questions are left unanswered. I think this is the book where things really start to go down and get interesting. It's a turning point, not just for the characters, but for the story as a whole. Even the feel of the book is different. As I was reading, I felt like Chaol and Dorian's point of view was providing a slice of the past books, Manon's point of view was providing a slice of the future and where the series is heading, and Celaena's point of view was providing the transition from past to future. I really like Manon, more than I had anticipated. She brings something good to the table and the story and I can't wait to see how she continues to develop as a character. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she plays a bigger role in Celaena's story later on! I teared up a few times because OOOHHH MYYYY GOODNESS I am speechless with how the s...

Review of Rise of the Phoenix

I am giving this book 4/5 stars! I received a copy of the book from the author. Thank you again Isajanyan for the copy and writing a great book!!  If you like books with the chosen one, born solely for this event type of books, this is the book for you! This book was creative from the beginning with the brilliant writing style. In some movies, there is a prophecy or story from the past that they will describe and talk about. This book was written like someone was telling the prophecy, and I found that creative because this whole book starts with just that.  There was a lot of information in the beginning, it was a bit overwhelming and may have contributed to me having a hard time getting into it at first. That also may have contributed to me feeling as though some things were being repeated. While that may be the case, as I continued reading it got better. I was starting to get attached to the characters and story. So I highly recommend sticking around and reading it...
